I am sure the artist has no problem selling their song for the commericial, even if it is redone. It's apparently getting people to talk and any publicity is good.
The top of my list right now is Applebees. It irritates me so much in fact I sent them the following comment:
"I have no complaint about a single restaurant, it's your new commercials I find very offensive. Why pervert a classic like "Mack the Knife" to try to promote your food? Can't you be creative and make your own song? I am so utterly and completely repulsed by your new commercials I change the station when one comes on. The lyrics are cheesy in the extreme and dishonor the original artist. You took a classic song and violated it with your stupid commercial. I'm less likely to visit your restaurant chain becuase of it."

I don't particularly like that song - it sounds cool, but the lyrics are kinda dumb...
